Pro-poor is an indigenous, non governmental, non profit humanitarian aid organization. It was established in June 2003 by returnees from Diaspora having highest professional profiles and diversified work experience. It was initiated with the objective of reducing the vulnerability of the disadvantage group of people with in its area of operation through the application of integrated development approach based on genuine community participation.

Pro-poor is officially recognized and is registered with ministry of Justice and is directly accountable to the Disaster Prevention & Preparedness Agency of Ethiopia.

Pro-Poor is one of the active members of Christian Relief & Development Association (CRDA) an umbrella organization with full participation with in the forums of HIV/AIDS & also a member of CORHA (Consortium of Reproductive Health Association & active Member Orphan Vulnerable Children network.
