Pro- Poor's vision for Ethiopia is Poverty free, prosperous, and peaceful country with out beggary & streetism. Instead the presence of food security& remarkable heath status for its people in general and for women & children in particular are envisaged.

Mission

Pro-poor‘s mission is to reduce vulnerability of disadvantage groups of the community through empowering the target group to utilize the talent personal, social, economical and natural resources of the community in collaboration with governmental, private sectors and particularly with community based structures.

Values and principles

• Pro-poor is highly commuted for the realization of right and dignity of the poorest of the poor.
• Pro-poor believes no person is born poor; given the necessary conditions and opportunities every person has a potential for self –reliance.
• Pro-poor is pledged to deal fairly, legally ,honestly and openly with all stakeholders.

Strategic objectives

• To build the capacity of community based structure (Idrs ,Extended families, FBOs) to be responsible and accountable the needs and rights of the vulnerable groups of the community.
• To empower the disadvantage groups of the community (destitute women, orphan vulnerable children, person living with HIV AIDS)to wards securing sustainable livelihood and claiming their rights.
• Establish and strengthen strong working relationships among Governmental organization private sectors, and donor agencies.

The Organization gives specific focus to mothers & children that are currently involved in activities related to:

• Social & economic infrastructure development
• Livelihood promotion
• HIV/AIDS prevention, care & support
• Advocacy on environment protection & human rights

Geographical location

Pro Poor is currently working In Addis Ababa, Western Tigray (Adigrat) & Benshagul Gumuz National Regional state. The most important programs the Organization has been doing in Addis Ababa are skill training, Sanitation, Care & support to PLWHA & OVC, Urban agriculture saving & credit associations.

In Benshandul Gumz we have completed the conduction of base line survey so as to start a need based project intervention. In Addigrat we have started care and support activities for people living with AIVAIDS.
